Top up your horse feed with the goodness of hemp! Praise Hemp Superfood Hemp Seed Oil offers a healthy dose of Omega-3-6 Essential Fatty Acids to help support your horse's immunity, heart health, and skin and coat.
Omega 6, and Omega 3 work together within the horse’s body, so equine nutritionists place more emphasis on maintaining a balance, rather than the total of either one. Hemp Seed Oil provides this, and also contains up to 5% Gamma-Linolenic Acid (GLA) which is an Omega 6 fatty acid and may help reduce inflammation.
Source of 3 + 6 Essential Fatty Acids essential to tissue growth, maintaining a shiny coat & healthy skin, and helping regulate many internal functions

JINI SAYS: The super important point to remember when feeding healthy fats to horses (and humans!) is to make sure they are cold-pressed. If you heat a vegetable oil during processing (i.e. regular hydrogenated oil), you create damaging trans-fatty acids. And then not only can your horse's body not use the fat, but it actually causes damage and inflammation.ALL the good fats we sell in the Shoppe here are cold-pressed and this hempseed oil is one of my horse's favorites. Some of them will lick/drink it straight out of the feed dish - nothing but hemp oil! And they will all eat up their vitamin feed dishes when I drizzle this hemp over top - even the mustangs. The difference between cold-pressed flax oil and hemp oil is that hemp oil also contains omega-6, in addition to omega-3 (typically in a 2:1 or 3:1 ratio). Although many sources promote omega-6 as pro-inflammatory, my own body/experiences says this is not so. When I went looking for reasons why, I found this key piece of information:
Dr. Juliet Getty says that hemp has "both essential fatty acids, linoleic and alpha linolenic acid (ALA), as well as a special fatty acid known as gamma linolenic acid (GLA). GLA belongs to the omega 6 family, but unlike the omega 6 found in soybean oil, it reduces inflammation rather than promoting it."
GLA has been shown in human clinical studies to reduce itching, redness and toughness of atopic skin (dermatitis), along with benefiting arthritis and diabetes, and anti-inflammatory effects.
